7 Small Home Hacks

We are so blessed and grateful to live in a nice home but it being only 800 square feet it can get cluttered fast if we are not careful. Here are some tips that I have learn to help with living in a small home.

Tip #1 Being content with what you have.
This one takes a lot practice and it to me is the hardest one. I have gotten better with this but I am still a work in progress. You know that saying that says “if it is not broke then don’t fix it” it should be “ if it isn’t broke then don’t replace it. We need to be happy with the blessings we have and be content.  Instead of having to have the newest electronics or the most in clothes, be content with what you have and not only will you find out you have more money in your pocket but you will also be more happy because you won’t be focused on stuff that isn’t important, but on family.

Tip #2 Being conscious of the things you bring into the home.
With living in a small home we have learned to be conscious of the things we bring into our home. This can be hard when you find great sales on things or good deals at garage sales. Unless you can sell it to make money off of it or it is something you really need then don’t buy it just because it is cheap (I  am promise I am guilty of this).

Tip #3 This one goes along with tip 2 but trying not to make impulse purchases such as falling in love with that Kate Spade purse then buying it before even thinking how much it costs or where you are going to store it. When you take the time to think about your purchases not only will it you save money but will also save you room when you decide you can live without it.

Tip #4 Having to constantly go through our wardrobe to clean out. Sometimes when I am browsing through my closet in the morning I will see a article of clothing that I no longer am wearing or like so I pull it out and put it in the donate pile. Making sure you are constantly getting rid of stuff you no longer need or want will keep your house less cluttered.

Tip #5 Buy furniture that has storage.
Furniture with storage is a great way to make extra storage for things you want out of your way. Buy furniture such as a ottoman that has storage under the top that you could store toys or other things in or a coffee table that you could store stuff under.

Tip #6 Make use of those wasted spaces. Such as space under beds or vertical space. Store puzzles of games under the bed or gift wrapping stuff under beds. Find ways to make use of vertical space by using shelving or using those plastic  drawers things from Walmart. Make use of that wasted space.

Tip #7 Being grateful for what you already have.
When you are grateful for what you already have it will make what you don’t have seem less important. You will realize you may not need that thing or things you were wanting which will save you money and that valuable storage space. Whether or not you start a grateful journal, you must always remember to be grateful for what you already have.
